Ronald Glowe

Ronald Glowe is a Canadian painter and graphic artist primarily known for his detailed depictions of the Canadian landscape and wildlife. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he developed an artistic style that balanced graphic interpretation with a focus on the natural world. Before dedicating himself fully to a studio practice, Glowe worked for twenty-six years in the television industry in Winnipeg, spending ten years as a graphic artist and sixteen years as the Art Director for CTV Television.

Glowe’s body of work is characterized by the use of acrylics and oils to explore what he termed the "sensuous landscape." His technical approach often utilized a geometric interplay of color and light to capture the scale and atmospheric conditions of the Prairies and, later in his career, the coastal scenery of British Columbia. A significant portion of his output focused on the realistic rendering of wild creatures, including geese and owls, reflecting a professional interest in natural conservation.

His career included participation in several significant group exhibitions and documentary projects. He was one of twelve artists selected from across the country to be featured in the CBC documentary "Painting Canada." His work was also included in the National Exhibition of Canadian Nature Art and the Kansas Mid-west Nature Show. Furthermore, his paintings and prints were frequently utilized in national fundraising efforts for organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund.

The work of Ronald Glowe has been presented in public institutions including the Winnipeg Museum of Man and Nature (now the Manitoba Museum). Following his retirement from the broadcast industry, he relocated to White Rock, British Columbia, where he continued to paint the landscapes of the West Coast. His artistic records and biographical information are maintained within regional art archives and documented in catalogs of Canadian nature art, reflecting his role as a contributor to the tradition of Canadian wildlife and landscape painting.
