Toews is noted for her whimsical and community-oriented murals. In 2004, she headed the Winnipeg Harvest Mural, a project that involved children in its design and execution, reflecting themes of food and farming. That same year, she created a mural at the Good News Fellowship Church on St. Mary's Road, a collaborative piece that incorporated drawings by church members and depicted the four seasons. Beyond her mural work, Toews has also worked as an illustrator for books, including "NOBODY KNOWS!" and "Here's What I Mean To Say" by Sarah Yates. Her artwork has been exhibited in various forms, including paintings and prints.
In recognition of her contributions to the arts community, Toews was the recipient of the Glass Banjo award from the Winnipeg Folk Festival in 2001, where she had served as a graphic designer. Her work is catalogued in the Artists in Canada database, with files located at the Winnipeg Art Gallery's Clara Lander Library and the National Gallery of Canada's Library and Archives.
