Franta Hlubucek was a Czechoslovakian-born Canadian painter who immigrated to Canada in 1951, settling in British Columbia. He received his formal art training in Prague. Hlubucek was a landscape painter who worked primarily in oil, applying a European representational style to Canadian subjects. His work is known for its depictions of the British Columbia interior, particularly the landscapes of the Okanagan Valley and the Kootenay region.
