Alex Alikashuak (b. 1952) is an Inuit sculptor who was born in Nueltin Lake and raised in Rankin Inlet, now residing in Winnipeg. Though he learned sculpting at age 11, Alikashuak dedicated himself to a political career from .1970 to 1993, playing a significant role in land claim negotiations between his people and the Canadian government. It was only after concluding his political work that he fully committed to his artistic pursuits.
